  • What Is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

If you spend a lot of time typing on technology, or constantly find yourself doing repetitive motions with your hands, you may experience the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve (which runs from the forearm to the palm of the hand) becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway of ligament and bones at the base of the hand that houses the median nerve and tendons that bend the fingers.

If you’re wondering what compresses the median nerve, sometimes irritated tendons or other swelling can narrow the tunnel. This inflammation can result in weakness, pain, and numbness throughout the hand and wrist, sometimes even traveling up into the forearm and arm. It’s important to recognize that carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common neuropathies that is widely experienced by the general population, and most people don’t even know they suffer from it.  The symptoms tend to come on gradually over a period of weeks and can come and go depending on the frequency of use.

What Are the Common Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

The most commonly reported symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome are numbness and tingling in the fingers or hand. All fingers besides your pinky are typically affected by the increased pressure on the median nerve and tendons in the carpal tunnel. It’s not really the nerve itself, but rather contributing factors that cause the wrist to swell. Other symptoms include wrist pain at night that may interfere with sleep, and weakness in the muscles of the hand that can make it difficult to hold onto objects. You may also experience shock-like feelings that move into your fingers and arm.

    What Causes Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

There isn’t one specific cause of carpal tunnel syndrome, rather many different actions can lead to the condition. If you’ve had trauma or injury in the wrist such as a fracture, break, or sprain, an underactive thyroid gland, or rheumatoid arthritis, you are more susceptible to dealing with carpal tunnel syndrome. As mentioned above, repetitive motions, preexisting conditions like diabetes, and pregnancy can all cause carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms. The main reason pregnant women experience CTS is because their bodies tend to retain more fluid which often causes swelling and bloating, resulting compression on the median nerves of the wrist.

You are more at risk of CTS if you pursue a career that involves repeated use of vibrating hand tools, heavy use of keyboard typing, gaming, carpentry, sewing, driving, and other activities can put you at risk of developing this condition.

CarpalAID Provides Natural Relief for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Over at CarpalAID, our mission is to help people avoid getting surgery by using a hand patch that is applied to the palm with a strip of medical-grade adhesive. The concave structure of the patch lifts the soft tissue of the palm, therefore relieving pressure off the median nerve naturally and efficiently.

Doctors have performed MRI before and after the use of our CarpalAID hand patch, and results show that the patch lifted the soft tissue of the hand three millimeters and released the pressure on the median nerve, ultimately relieving carpal tunnel hand pain.

Shortly after, a clinical test was conducted and the results were extremely positive. More than 70 percent of the people in the trial reported their hand pain was gone due to using our hand patch.

This is the only product on the market today that works directly to relieve carpal tunnel syndrome hand pain. CarpalAID® is now produced in the company's FDA-approved facilities in the U.S.

Get yours now, and say bye-bye to your discomfort!
